Thunberg parle d'un certain R. rugosa alba dépourvu de stipules, probablement qu'il ne faut voir là qu'une erreur involontaire, commise sans doute en transcrivant la relation envoyée à ce sujet, erreur qui n'a jamais été rectifiée, car toutes les espèces de la tribu des Rosées en sont largement pourvues, celle des rugosa en particulier.
