Bloom:
Red blend. Carmine, scarlet or cherry red with white or cream edges. Serrated or frilly petal edges. Mild fragrance. 15 to 20 petals. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Habit:
Height: up to 43" (up to 110cm). Width: up to 2' (up to 60cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer. Can be used for garden. Plant in partial shade for best color. rain tolerant. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

The American Rose Society says (American Rose, November 1998, p. 35) the following synonyms for this rose have been withdrawn: MACsplash; 'Spanish Shawl'. According to the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights (PVR) web page, application for a PVR Grant for this rose was made in 1982 and granted in 1984 (PVR Grant No. 212). The breeder's Reference for this rose is Macspash. The New Zealand Trade Name is 'Sue Lawley'. This PVR Grant was terminated in 1989.
