Bred by Robert Ward (United Kingdom, before 1862).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1873 as 'Ipswich Gem'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Carmine-pink.  Large, very double bloom form.  
Patents:
