But surely a corner may be found for the Maiden's Blush, for the fine old Blanche Belgique, or for Celestial - the roses that used to be seen in our childhood with a sprig of Southernwood in every village boy's buttonhole on Sunday.

The Alba Roses are, from their delicacy of colouring, interesting, and thrive under ordinary cultivation. The moderate growers should be pruned closely, not the others. Blanche Belgique....are among the best kinds.

One has dark rough foliage and neat white blooms, occasionally slightly tinted with pink in the centre, but the majority came pure white, and the branches are crowded with flowers as closely as they can be produced. One beautiful branch arching across the porch is a natural wreath of pure flowers; they are, however, of little use for cutting except in the bud stage. An eminent rosarian has determined this to be a variety of Rosa alba, known as Blanche Belgique, and evidently of continental origin.

Blanch Superbe, or Blanche de Belgique is a much older variety than the preceding, with all the characters of this division, and producing very large and double flowers of the purest white.
