This seedling's blooms looks very much like 'Flamingo' (1956) but with a different color scheme
The other seedling, Ja1-10-5, had the same foliage, especially leaflet shape, but with much less pigment and more thorns. Also, the foliage has a strong grey cast! (R. blanda seedling, culled)
Does, on occasion, set hips (vase-like shape, does not turn fully red)
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
From OP seeds of Paul Geurts' tetraploid rugosa.
Per Paul, possible seed parents: There were probably 20 plants growing within 15’ of it, but not all of them bloomed last year. Here is a list of the ones that bloomed for sure. Commander Gillette, a (Prairie Peace OP) and a (William Booth x Carefree Sunshine) were growing 3’ to 4’ from it with John Cabot, (Ross Rambler #1 OP) and R.blanda about 6’ to 8’ away. While Goldbusch, (Hot Wonder x William Baffin), (Marie Pavie x R.blanda) and (Showy Pavement x R.blanda) were 10’ to 15’ away.
