Possibly in memoriam of Captain Williams, who drowned on July,8 1822 near La Spezia together with his friend, the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822). 'Captain Williams' in Sangerhausen seems to be a Portland rose. possibly 'Comte de Chambord'.
