This looks like a sugar coating! Old picture but I started reading up on Mutabilis since I have one in an EXTREMELY protected, special corner where two sides of my house come together, in zone 5!! It is alive now entering her second year. Will be fun to see how big she can grow this year... I planted it about 12 off the house so might also be getting some root warmth from my leaky-fieldstone basement, and is planted right next to another cold-intolerant- Fortune's Double Yellow. I like to push the floral envelope :)

The plant died in 2012 after it was relatively warm until January 25. Than frost came down to minus 15 and no snow + lots of sun. That freeze-dried the rose and it didn't recover like Étoile de Hollande did. I planted a new-one (own root and not grafted) last year, but it doesn't thrive. Maybe a warm west-facing wall might do the trick... but I do not have one. Good luck trying Bumblebee-Kim.
