If your rose is over 70 years old, it cannot be Spek's 'King Arthur'. There was a hybrid perpetual by Cant called 'Prince Arthur'. On the other hand, there was a modern red shrub called 'Madrigal' which was also also marketed as 'King Arthur'.

Thank you for the information. We were told by a nursery owner that it was King Arthur... we were at a loss as to it's origin, other than it came from my husband's grandmother's garden a very long time ago. Either way, it's an absolutely gorgeous plant. We're just happy to have it. :)
