Thank you Robert. I knew it was a special rose, but it wasn't until I loaded some references today on 'Charles Mallerin', that the penny hit home. There is a named rose in the next town but I won't be seeing that until next summer, and things tend to get away from me then. It is good that you concur.

Patricia, It is a special rose. 'Charles Mallerin' grew in my Grandparents garden. It was one of the first roses I ever knew. I remember it fondly. It's quite distinctive. Unfortunate it's such an awkward grower. I'm sure you'll get verification upon your visit.
