Looks and sounds like a good one, but yes the name is unfortunate. Given how often roses are renamed for no good reason, I think it would be excusable if this one was given another chance under a new name.

It could be renamed "Exceptional Young Gentleman of African Descent", thereby solving the original problem and, as a bonus, setting a new world record for the longest and most ridiculous rose name, and relegating 'Madame Wagram, Comtessse de Turenne' to second place.

This rose is very much like Mister Lincoln even down to the fragrance. Good suggestion on a name but I think from now on if I am asked its name I'll call it Emancipation as a tribute to Mister Lincoln, the person and the rose and as a symbolic freedom from the history of its own name.
