This blossom looks atypical of JFK. There are too few petals. The form doesn't look correct in my opinion.

This is from the same plant as all my other photos of JFK. It is the only white rose I currently grow. If it is incorrect I apologize but as far as I know it is the correct rose.

I thought the photo was a good one of the stamen before they turned brown/black. Petal count on our JFK blooms varies quite a bit. It seems to be weather related. Petal texture and bloom form are affected too. One odd thing I have noticed over the years, cool weather in spring doesn't knock petal count down as much as cool weather in the fall. It is an atypical bloom. We see them often.

You make a good point, Dave. Actually I have been trying to add photos here from different months through out the season for just that reason. Depending on the weather I can have blooms from as early as May to as late as November and eash months bloom can look very different from the last. Also by adding a dated picture of a bloom from each month or each time a rose has bloomed for me I feel you can get an idea of the length of time between each bloom cycle. Of course some of them I just add because I think they're pretty too!

Another thing I have been doing the last couple years is leaving blooms that were blown on the bush for photos to upload to HMF. I used to deadhead the blown ones before taking a pic. I decided folks might want to see what they can expect as blooms age. Still deadhead the blown ones and take photos after for the pretty effect. Some are downright hideous in my opinion. I'm still trying to force myself to take pics of blown Gemini blooms. Haven't been able to do it with Gemini yet. How can such gorgeous blooms age so bad?
