Bishop's Lodge advised, Feb 2023: 
"Sadly there are no longer roses available for sale at Bishop's Lodge. 2022 was the last time we were able to  propagate them. Unfortunately we no longer have the resources to continue doing this".

This is a small cameo courtesy of Noelene Drage, information from the Journal of HRIA and personal correspondence from the late Brenda Weir, who played a large role in the conservation of the Bishop's Lodge and Oxley roses.
"The Bishop’s Lodge at Hay was built for the Anglican Diocese of the Riverina in 1888-9. Bishop Sydney Linton occupied it until Bishop Anderson took up residence in 1895 and it was he who planted roses in front of the Lodge, reaching down to the Murrumbidgee River. He is said to have exhibited roses ‘…in Sydney and Melbourne with considerable success – no mean feat with slow transport and poor roads.’ To put the Bishop’s efforts into context, in 2003, in a modern car with good roads, the Hay to Sydney trip is considered to be a nine hour journey and allow five to six hours to Melbourne. Bishop Anderson retired to New Zealand in 1926 and was succeeded by Bishop Halse who ‘…was called The Bishop of Neverina, as he was seldom at home due to the huge area of his Diocese.’ "

The Heritage Rose Garden also gathers and buds roses from stations (the Australian name for a ranch), old homes and homesteads in the area, such as Thelangerin Station on the Lachlan River and Oxley Station.

Rose 1 and 24. 'Lady Hillingdon'
Rose 3. 'Indica Major'
Rose 7. This creamy white rose was lost. A couple of photographs remain and we hope to identify and replace it. Lost in 1991.
Rose 8. "Bishop's Lodge Scented White" It is yet to be established if this is 'Mrs. Herbert Stevens' or 'Niphetos'.
Rose 20. 'Alexander Hill Gray'
Rose 22. 'Paul's Lemon Pillar'
