Fredriksdal has a long and exciting history, which dates back to the 18th century when the Manor was built by Fredrik Wilhelm Cöster. He named it after himself – Fredriksdal – which means Fredrik’s valley.
The last private owners donated the whole manor area to the city of Helsingborg, and in 1923 Fredriksdal museums and gardens opened to the public. A lot has happened since then, and today we welcome nearly a quarter of a million visitors each year.
Fredriksdal is open 362 days a year. Exhibitions on different themes are shown each year and there is a constant programme of events, both large and small. The Midsummer celebrations, Rose Days, Michaelmas Market and Christmas at Fredriksdal all attract thousands of visitors.
There is also a nursery, Flora Linnea, with a large number of different roses for sale.
