Rose, peony and clematis (member) Garden

My grandparents built the house I live in, and my mother was raised here. Now, I live and raise my daughter here. I am in an ongoing process of recreating and restoring my grandmother's gardens, as well as adding many more flowerbeds where they had a field of vegetables. I would describe it as a cottage garden, with loose clumps of classic flowering perennials, herbs, roses, daylilies, peonies, clematis (although I have decided I need to add more), and a shade garden under the chestnut tree with hostas, astilbe, aquilegia, bleeding hearts, heuchera etc. All areas of my garden are perpetually changing, as some things grow and mature, other things sprawl and get chopped back, and yet others fail to thrive. I am forever buying new plants and rearranging things to make room in the perfect spot for whatever I've just brought home. I hope I never stop rearranging my garden; that is where a good deal of my enjoyment comes from.
