The Franciscan Monastery has a crypt with the tombe of the last Bourbon king Charles X and his family, who were banished from France in 1830. The gardens house a large Bourbon rose collection.
[From By Any Other Name, March 2012, p. 4-5:] The first ten varieties of Bourbon roses were planted at the monastery in autumn 2003 and about a further twenty were added in the spring. Two years later more Bourbon roses were added by grafting from roses owned by Dr Fineschi from Cavriglia. This brought the collection to 60 varieties, making it one of the most complete collections of Bourbon roses open to the public in Europe.
