The house and garden are on a double lot with lots of room for plants. The lot has many 60 year old trees, perhaps not the best for growing roses. The sacrifice in the number of blooms is more than compensated for by the comfort of the cooling shade. This garden is at the very center of the United States. On any one day we can borrow the weather from any of our neighbors to the east, west, north or south. If a rose does well here, it will do well anywhere.
