 Hamadera Park Rose Garden
The 2.5 hectare rose garden, located in the Osaka Prefecture opened in 1991.  The circuit – style garden with scenery depictions of old Japan:  mountains and valleys, urban and countryside, pond and canal, and seaside.  Some 6,500 roses are spread through the scenery with terraced fields (modern cultivars) and mountains (native species).
Use of pesticides were withdrawn from 2009 and a range of alternatives are now used – pheromone traps, yellow light and tree guards  Staff have selected roses with high disease resistance and heat tolerance.  The climate in Sakai is sub-tropical.
