[From A Heritage of Roses, by Hazel Le Rougetel, p. 136:] Castle Howard Rose Garden, near York, where Jim Russell, who [as was Graham Stuart Thomas] had also been associated with Sunningdale nursery, has amassed a comprehensive collection. This was originally conceived as a tribute to the memory of Lady Cecilia Howard and was completed in 1978... wide borders of old roses, including a particularly lovely one of Albas, are well planted with foliage plants and succeeding flowerers -- phlox, for example...
