Helen Pizzi has written an article about the Ninfa Garden entitled The Old Roses of Ninfa, which appears in the Winter 1998 issue of the American Rose Society's OGR & Shrub Gazette. In this article, Pizzi discusses the history of the garden and its owners, as well as some of the many roses that grow there. The garden itself and the surrounding nature and wildlife reserve covers nearly 8 hectares (almost 20 acres). There are 200 different varieties of roses growing here. The cherry pink tea rose, General Schablikine, is planted in many places around the garden. A hedge of 100 plants of R. roxburghii plena lines the entrance drive. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed to visit each year on certain weekends (see website link).
[From The Rose, The Royal National Rose Society, 2000, Vol 94, Part 4, page 118] Helene Pizzi reviews the 1999 book The Gardens of Ninfa by Marella Caracciolo and Giuppi Pietromarchi.
