[From Impressionist Roses, by Derek Fell, pp. 28-29:] At Les Collettes, Aline Renoir laid out a formal rose garden... It was planted with many large-flowering nybrid tea varieties, early-flowering Lady Banks roses, late-flowering 'Autumn Damask' roses, and old-fashioned Bourbon roses between rows of citrus trees. Many of the roses came from Cap d'Antibe, where the Meilland family had established a rose breeding nursery... Rosarian Henri Estable, who worked in the Nice area, introduced 'Painter Renoir' in 1909... [ it is] the predominant rose in the garden of Les Collettes today... Renoir's house and garden, Les Collettes, has been fully restored and is open to the public...
