One of the finest collections of species roses in North America is contained within the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Collection of Rosaceous Plants within the Arnold Arboretum. The website contains excellent maps of the garden. Driving instructions from Boston....always a risk for non-natives. [From Climbing Roses, by Stephen Scanniello and Tania Bayard, p. 67:] Rosa wichuraiana was introduced in to America through the Arnold Arboretum in 1888... in 1891 Charles Sprague Sargent [was] director of the Arnold Arboretum [ Ibid, p. 68:] Jackson Dawson, the plant propagator at the Arnold Arboretum, created several Wichuraiana hybrids...
