I established a rose bed of 53 roses on reclaimed grazing land in a new garden using roses bought in an auction sale in 2002. the soil is very limey clay and is at sea level so does have plenty moisture at 18 inches even in a drought. the roses are very variable at present in their stem strength but all are flowering vigorously even in the second flush. Hopefully in this winter with tight pruning they will gain in stem strength !!
