Catalogue of the exotic garden in San Donato near Florence, a former monastery acquired 1827 by Commander Nicolas de Demidoff. The plants in the garden were collected by Baron Carl Alexander Anselm Freiherr von Hügel (April 27, 1796 Regensburg - June 2, 1870 Brussels), the Austria-Hungarian pleniotentiary in Toscana on his voyages in India, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Polynesia and first conserved in the gardens of Hietzing near Vienna. In 1850, the collection was transported to San Donato, following his appointment in 1849 as the highest Austria-Hungarian diplomat to the Toscana.
