Barr & Sugden Barr & Sons Peter Barr, 1825-1909, founded his nursery Barr & Sons in London, England. Many of his peonies are derived from species other than P. lactiflora. His breeding records were lost in a fire. [From The Book of the Peony by Alice Harding, 1917, p. 47:] Peter Barr was a tireless collector of all species of the peony and was also much interested in hybridising. From his establishment have come Wittmaniana rosea, one of the Wittmaniana hybrids, and the albifloras, Helena Leslie, Lord Rosebery and Celestine.
