[From Wild- und Gartenrosen", by S. G. Saakov, 1976, p. 64-65:] The Rote Krimrose [Red Crimean Rose], a form of R. gallica is considered in the USSR as the main representative of Oil Roses. As a result of breeding activities in Simferopol in Crimea, Maitschenko has obtained several sorts: 'Nowinka', 'Kooperatorka', 'Pionerka'. These sorts have been introduced into production. The basic range consists of following roses: R. gallica f. rubra and the sorts 'Nowinka', 'Kooperatorka', 'Pionerka', which are little distributed.
