Esquermes, Nord 59790
Louis Xavier Joseph Miellez (April 24, 1777 Esquermes - July 11, 1849 Esquermes), nurseryman and rose breeder. Succeeded by his son Auguste Joseph Miellez (see). The year 1850 is used as an arbitrary separation in assigning rose cultivars to father and son. It is possible that some of the roses of the 1840s were also bred by Auguste Miellez, although the rose classes mostly speak for the father.
