1943 American Rose Annual p138. Editor. Where New Roses Are To Come From. Carl Duehrsen, of Montebello, Calif., tells us that he is working on "everblooming climbing roses hardy enough for any part of U.S.A. that are good vigorous growers, have good form and color and are disease-resistant", adding: "I am also working for a fine pure white rose of good texture, heavy enough to prevent balling, and during my endeavors I have used 'Frau Karl Druschki' as one of the mother plants, but to date without much success. Good growth and foliage with profuse blooming qualities, and, of course, flowers that have fragrance, form and color, are the points I am striving for."
