George Mander's (b. 1931 Kassel) father was Gärtner (gardener) at Kassel Wilhelmshöhe.
One more note by George Mander :
In the last 10 to 15 years before his retirement my father was in "Uniform", like the "Park Police", watching out that nobody stepped onto the grass.
Update Jan. 6th 2013 :
On my last visit to Germany in summer 2012 everybody is walking all over the grass nowadays.
