[From The Ultimate Rose Book, by Stirling Macoboy, p. 163:] Albert Norman was an amateur raiser and a diamond cutter by trade. [From In Praise of Roses, by Harry Wheatcroft, p. 32:] 'Ena Harkness', one of the finest roses of our time, was raised by an amateur, Mr. Albert Norman, whose real job was connected with diamond cutting in Hatton Garden. But his success with 'Ena' was no fluke, for he also gave us 'Frensham', for many years the best seller among floribundas, and he later produced 'Isobel Harkness', 'Ann Elizabeth', 'Vera Dalton', and others.
1949 Australian Rose Annual p. xi. An C. H. Isaac advertisement mentions Norman roses to "try out". They were: 'Hitchin Brilliance'; 'Red Butterfly'; '286' (Mrs Sam x Golden Dawn); '833S'orange pink; '841F' yellow; '856E' orange.
1963 The Rose Annual, UK p124. Obituary. Albert Norman, Past president.
