I live in Salina, Kansas, middle of the state....and I bought this rose, actually 2 of them, from David Austin, I think, in 2004.....anyway, I planted them along a chain link fence next to the city's sidewalk...I figured a "thornless rose" would be a good choice, as we have alot of walkers go by, and they don't need to be stuck by a prickly rose. I was hoping the roses would cover the fence.....and by last summer, 2008, they had completely covered the fence, and themselves in a torrent of bright pink blooms....and have repeated their bloom times at a faster rate every year! What is really funny is to watch peoples faces as they go by and hear their comments when I am pruning the canes back without gloves! They can't believe this rose doesn't have thorns! Only occaisionally you will find one, but it is rare! And the fragrance is wonderful! If I had room, I would add several more Zeph's!!!

I planted Secret just last summer, and it was a wonderful bloomer and they look just like the pics on hmf .... I live in the middle of Kansas, where the heat in August reaches 100 for several weeks at a time, but Secret~so far~managed to just keep blooming. Gorgeous scent, and I think the blooms remained on the stems for 4 or five days, before dropping. Well worth planting!!!

I have had Secret for three years now. I added a second one this year. By far one of the best roses I have grown. Very disease resistant, has turned into one of my favorites. I recommend to everyone that is looking to start growing roses...

Huge purple/mauve/reddish blooms on long stems born one at a time. Excellent cut flower. Fragrance (fruity-sweet-old rose) is second to none and I have 40 something extremely fragrant varieties. Best of all it loves even zone 8 Texas heat and is one of the only flowers here that blooms in 105 degree temps. Very little black spot and no other disease problems. I highly recommend!

I agree! This is so far my very favorite rose---the blooms are absolutely gorgeous! The color just stands out and the fragrance is wonderful!! I live in the middle of Kansas, and it thrives in the sun, and even in our stiff, clay soil. Mine only tends to blackspot after all others have had theirs, and then not very much. I debated for a long time before I purchased this one from Edmonds, and I will never regret it!!!

I love this rose! It is all that I had hoped it would be...always a breathtaking color, and fragrance--not to mention the size and shape! My favorite!!!
