I planted my Minnie Shaylor last fall. It produced one lovely flower this year. It doesn't have much of a fragrance, blooms very late, and is quite tall. It was used in many coral hybrids and was the seed parent for the intersectional peony Bartzella. The flowers are a very full semi-double--compared to its many coral-colored offspring, the flowers have more petals and resemble the shape of Bartzella more closely.

My Moondance suffered very little dieback during the winter, but unfortunately came down with a bad case of blackspot during the spring, and none of my other roses did. It got blackspot last fall as well. It grows very fast, but I don't find it nearly as disease-resistant as its reputation led me to believe.

I agree Anemone! This rose is the saddest looking one in my garden right now! I keep thinking I'll get rid of it, but I do like the blooms.

Lovely and a fast grower, but not disease-free here--it has a susceptibility to powdery mildew.

The color of this peony is just amazing--a deep, blood red, without a hint of the purple that colors many of the other so-called "red" lactiflora peonies. The scent is light but sweeter than the other red peonies. The plant habit is very nice, but it seems a bit more susceptible to botrytis than the other peonies I have.
