Just got Errinerung/Souvenir De Brod, from Palatine nursery Canada. Very large and huge roots, bare-root and I think it's on multiflora root stock for cold hardiness.. better plant this one deep...
Dared to plant this tea in my garden which is zone 5. Is in a sheltered spot where I have overwintered Duchesse De Brabant, another "tea". The photos were just too pretty, reminds me of a SDLM or alchymist. Why do some pictures show it yellow and some pink, and some a combination? Own roots, from A Reverence for Roses in Florida...
Has survived the first winter. Purchased June 2015 in a large pot with blooms from a big-name company at a Long Island nursery. Was on a root stock. About 90% die-back, to about the snow line, which is normal for my 5b and many shoots are now coming from above the rootstock. Was planted deeply, the scion just touching ground level..
Has survived better than a lot of the other roses through its first winter, with hardly and die-back. She was an own-root from DA April of 2015. A lot of this year's die-back occured as late-season freezing "Arctic Blasts" that came after many had started coming out of dormancy, all the protective snow was gone.. and the little shoots blackened. She is fine though with about 80% of the cane lengths green and is about 18" tall!
