When I became single again in 1986 it dawned on me that nobody had ever promised me a rose garden. So I set out to plant my own. It started with hybrid teas and floribundas, then a family friend introduced me to Antique Roses. The fragrance of Reine des Violettes sold me on the wonderful old roses. My health took a major turn for the worse and I wasn't able to take care of my plants, then the drought and gophers hit, and my garden went from 90+ plants down to 16. The last couple of years things have taken a turn for the better and I am again building my collection with emphasis on the rare and unusual. I joined The Friends of Vintage Roses and have taken on caring for the Floribunda Collection.
