Gallica / Provins.  Purple, golden-yellow stamens.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in small clusters, flat bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  USDA zone 4b through 8b.  Height of 39" to 5' (100 to 150 cm).  Width of 2' to 3' (60 to 90 cm). Thomas Rivers & Son Ltd. (1837).
