I am a home gardener. I raise Gesneriads, Begonias, houseplants indoor under lights. I have over 3 large shelves with lights 48" x 18" x 60" and some smaller shelf units 48" x 14" x 50" . I am an active members of the Nat' Capital Area chapter of the Gesneriad Society and the Potomac Branch of the American Begonia Society.

I grow perennials, including Roses, Shrubs, a few small trees, roses, peonies, clematis, iris, etc. and many kinds of plants along with weedy natives that the birds did the courtesy of planting for me.
Also have a vegetable area growing mainly strawberries and tomatoes along with other veggies on occasion: leeks, onions, swiss chard, beans, beets and many herbs.
I am retired and drive a school bus part time. Have 2 dogs and 3 cats and some zebra finches.
I live in zone 7a but have some microclimates of 7b and am close to the Chesapeake Bay which does effect my weather.
I love taking pictures of my plants and sharing them. I enjoy researching about plants and many times have to research the name of a plant. Some times nurseries send a rose that looks a lot like the one I ordered but really is not. That is how I found this website, to help me ID some of my roses.
