First-year, bare-root, own-root 'James Galway', growing happily in partial shade. Scent is faint and fruity, almost identical to 'Benjamin Britten'. 6 July 2021. Iowa, Zone 5b.

'La Reine' at the close of her first year, here. Purchased band-size from Burlington Rose Nursery. Attractive habit, healthy foliage and good growth. (No blooms yet.) I would not consider this rose "thornless (or almost)" by any definition! 9 November 2021. Iowa, Zone 5b.

Rose de Rescht' has been a good doer in its first year here: it grew from a tiny little thing into a three-foot shrub, producing 7-8 flushes along the way. Healthy foliage, some prickles. Purchased from High Country Roses. October 31st, 2021. Iowa, Zone 5b.

'Benjamin Britten', in a picture taken shortly after it was planted in May of 2020. It has since survived the winter of '20-21 with flying colors (despite some rabbit grazing). Iowa, Zone 5b.
