Hi--I live in Portland and fell in love with growing roses here because it is the perfect climate for them. Prior to this, I enjoyed the thousands of rose bushes in my grandfather, Paul Jerabek's garden in NE Ohio. Every summer, my 6 siblings would along smelling each one, trying to commit to memory the many many names he knew by heart and oh the stories of people, places, dates, etc etc connected to every plant. Sadly I did not inherit the astute ability to memorize, categorize, and even create the kind of beauty that just continuously flowed from his head, heart, hands, and spirit. But I love the legacy he left behind in his blooms, and enjoy hearing the continuation of stories and to hear how his love of invention and beauty flourishes in others' yards today. Thank you for allowing my membership here and I look forward to ogling the multitude of roses on this platform.

My main interest is in Paul Jerabek roses, but of course I love many roses and like to see them all. I especially enjoy hardy roses, as my grandfather bred his for hardiness as well as beauty (color, form) , and fragrance.
