Lan Tian Yu peony photo
Peony photo courtesy of arctangent
Chinese tree peony bed, W. E. Upjohn Peony Garden. Montage of shots from 4 different years: 5/19/16, 5/17/17, 5/25/19, and 5/17/23. Chosen to show how blooms vary from year to year. There are three plants together, but not all of them appear in every shot of the montage.

Lan Tian Yu peony photo
Peony photo courtesy of arctangent
Chinese tree peony bed, W. E. Upjohn Peony Garden. Taken May 25, 2019. There are three specimens of Lan Tian Yu in a group in the left front corner of the bed. They produce blooms of varying flower form, from nearly single to fully double. This is an example of a bloom that is somewhere between single and semi-double. It is hard to believe the same plants produce such different blooms, one year to the next.
