Origin:
Bred by Wilhelm J.H. Kordes II (1891-1976) (Germany, 1929).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1932 as 'Cathrine Kordes'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Dark red.  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 4".  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Upright.  Dark green, dense foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Vigorous.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Notes:
The seed parent was often shown as ‘Mme. Caroline Testout’ x ‘Willowmere’, which was eventually named 'Superb'.
