'Sensass Delbard ®' rose Description

Bloom:
Red. Flowers velvety red. None / no fragrance. Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Habit:
Tall, climbing.
Height: 10' (305cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be used for cut flower, garden or pillar. Vigorous. Protect tender new spring growth from hard freezes that may cause canker, die-back and death of the plant. . Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom. Prune lightly until this rose gets established (about two years), then prune it back by about a third.. Remove unproductive wood every third year or so.

Nigel Pratt at Tasman Bay Roses says this rose has shapely flowers of rich crimson-red and dark green glossy foliage...
Steve grows this rose in Ontario, Canada and writes: I have a 9 1/2 foot tall 'Sensass Delbard' in my yard. I know little about roses in general but it has managed to flourish. It is entering dormancy now (Nov 2) but it has 4 buds on it attempting to mature. It is
as described, dark green leaves with dark red flowers. It impressed me this year by shooting
out a 9 1/2 foot branch straight up that didn't need support until about 8 feet. 6+ feet of that branch grew inside 5 weeks. I eventually supported it on my second floor balcony and it continued to climb to about 9 1/2 feet. For protection over the winter, I have buried the base of the plant in about 2 feet of leaves (well it was two feet loose packed... with the rain today they have settled to about 1 foot thick) I am looking forward to seeing if the tall branch will survive the winter.
