Origin:
Bred by Wilhelm J.H. Kordes II (1891-1976) (Germany, before 1950).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Wheatcroft Brothers Ltd. in 1950 as 'Karl Herbst'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1951 as 'Karl Herbst'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Scarlet.  Mild to strong fragrance.  60 petals.  Large, very full (41+ petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Glossy foliage.  

Height: 26" to 30" (65 to 75cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
