Hello,

I live in Essex, England, UK. and I'd like to send two PEACE hybrid Tea Rose bushes to a friend as a gift.

She lives in Adam's Basin, not far from Rochester, NY.

It is most difficult trying to shop in America, but I wouldn't be allowed to send one there.

Please are you able to guide me? I need to know prices, method of payment, availability, and delivery charges.

Yours sincerely, Dilys Xavier ............

I have 3 kinds of Flower Carpet: pink, red and yellow in z6a, Toronto. In my experience, all grow best in the sun, with main growth directed to the south side (plant a little to the north than required), but in 90% dry shade under maple tree with strong root competition pink kind grows best (after sending rooots deep) and yellow has very slow growth. All in shade grow taller, than in the sun, fewwer branches, and have twice smaller flowers. Need additional watering, of course. No spraying of any kind, fertilizing by water-soluble fertilizer 20-20-20 (Miracle-Gro, Plant Prod) in 1/2-1/4 of recommended dosing. Good response on thin top application of Miracle Gro rose soil for garden. All need (not NEED) :) deadheading. Without winter protection grow better here (mostly covered by snow).Pink is most healthy, compact growing (still send branches up to 3ft - 90cm long), fluffy flowers, really intense cold pink color (not pale pink or yellow-red), profusely flowering from June to the frost in waves, with less than  a month between flowerings (red and yellow too, but each has different timing - starts with red, then pink, then yellow). Red was a least healthy in the first year, when powdery mildew prone rose was near. Had both black spot and powdery mildew in moderate degree. Few other years - no more problems (source of infection was removed). It's less suitable for groundcover - sends several very long spindly branches (more than 1m - 1 yrd long), but some people are impressed by rich manly color, complementing lawn. Don't plant together with pink - they don't complement each other. Red is single petaled.Yellow - not groundcover at all, reaches middle chest level, upright growth. Very healthy, abundant flowering, largest flowers with high center when young. I like the color - cold frosty yellow, not hot yellow, as most yellow roses are.In my conditions, it's a bulletproof rose. Groundcovers die - Flower Carpet roses grow. Very good as security plant, just don't cut branches in the spring for a cold season security coverage.

Are Flower Carpet roses sterile?...Can they become an invasive species?

No, they are not sterile. But, it is very, very, doubtful that they would become invasive - in the worst case scenario, perhaps several generations of self pollinations could produce an almost wild weedy rose. If I were you I would be a LOT more concerned with your rootstock underneath your grafted roses causing invasive problems - it has in the past and continues to do so...
