At my place, the flower of this rose smells like fresh cut and just cooking Borecoal or Kale see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kale
I like that smell in winter, when the coal is mixed with meshed potatoes and eaten as "Boerenkoolstamppot", but not as a rose-scent!

Any ideas as to how well this rose will do in less than, or considerably less than, full sun?

Thanks, Mary

I planted a small 'Spice' shrub in a large porch pot April 2011. It is mid-July of this writing and the plant has tripled in size. It blooms nearly continuously, small blush-pink, fragrant blossoms. The aroma is quite unique- definitely spicy & peppery but rich & delicious

I love looking out my window to see Spice always in bloom. Extremely healthy. The white blooms get larger in the cooler weather of spring and fall (and winter here in Katy, Texas), and make nice cut flowers. Very cute and special rose. I plan on getting more.
