'Sweet Chariot' rose Reviews & Comments

In the photos, this rose is shown growing and thriving is Billings, Montana and Lee, NY, which is down the road a piece from where I live, in zone 5a. Sweet Chariot would seem to be hardy to colder than zone 6b.

I just read today (four years later) that this rose won the James Gamble Award for fragrance. I think it's well-deserved in this case! This is one of the few roses I know where I can detect the scent at a distance. I have a very poor sense of smell, so you know the scent is powerful!

Purple Chariot and Grand Chariot are two names that Cottage Farms uses for Sweet Chariot -- it's the same rose, and these listings should be combined.

It's a disservice to the hybridizer and rose growing community when this type of thing happens.

I would agree - who are they to make up their own names.

In this case it makes no sense whatsoever. The patent for this rose has expired.
I don't see any indication the name was trademarked. All multiple names do is serve to compound confusion.

Well, I sent Cottage Farms an email requesting they immediately start selling this rose under it's correct name. Fat lot of good it will do, but at least I feel better!

I'll be curious to hear if you get a response.

Bravo, Jeff. And good luck with that.

Well, after repeated emails and canned responses from Cottage Farms about how my request has been "forwarded to the appropriate department", I have nothing to show for it. I guess this just doesn't rise to the level of interest for them.
I think I will start whining on the phone next! These folks are not going to get away with changing rose names without a lot of flak from me.
