Very nice sized yellow blooms on a, so far, compact bush. This is a young plant in its first season and so far it is performing well.

From 'The Bystander' magazine, Oct 2, 1907, page 50. The accompanying text reads "A New Variety. This novelty was exhibited by Messrs. Dickinson and Sons, of Newtownards, and has been named "Avoca." The flowers are of a deep crimson-scarlet colour, and, in fact, in places there is a very definite suggestion of a purply-blue shade. Perhaps next year the novelty will be a blue rose? The scent is as sweet as any midsummer bloom, and the plant is so hardy that it will blossom continuously until late in the autumn."
