[From Roses in Bermuda, by The Bermuda Rose Society, p. 60:] There are many roses in Bermuda whose original name or provenance is unknown. These constitute the class of "Mystery" Roses... It was Peter Harkness who coined the term "Mystery" roses... Some "Mysteries" may be sports or seedlings of roses long established in Bermuda. Others may have been imported and their proper names forgotten. In most cases the roses have been given the names of the owner of the garden or the location where they were found... The Bermuda Rose Society tries to be careful in naming these unknown roses, until all reasonable doubt has been removed regarding their identification.
