If you can get Portland Rose Festival, get it. Its by far superior to Osiria, Snowfire, and Fire n Ice, especially where these roses usually fail -- vigor and mildew. Snowfire can get bursts of vigor, but its often disproportionate, and with mildew.

There is a McGredy bicolor that is also very nice, but it has weak necks :[ I would recommend that one over all the rest, but the weak necks make the plant look funny.

Do you mean McGredy's 'Candella' 1990?

Someone (possibly Jack Harkness - I didn't make a note) once said:
"Most times if a red rose has perfume, it will have a weak neck.
No perfume means a pedicel like a roman column"

Yes, that one, lol. Its really pretty in person, and if you look at the petals really close, you can see hand-painted traits. Its just the plant goes straight up, all healthy and vigorous, and its topped with nodding blooms :[

The blooms on this rose are gorgeous, but the plant itself is short and spreading, with weak stems. Mine is an own-root going into its fourth year, and still not taller than about 8 inches.

This-one seems to be in need of being grafted. But even then it's not very vigorous. Cut back every year to 10 cm it reaches 60 cm. A relatively small HT in my garden.

Is Osiria better than Snowfire?
