Bought Pierre de Ronsard as 3 gallon shrub, so tall it hit a doorway when i first brought it into the house. Planted around June 2015 on septic leech field... I am tired of mowing the rich grass over it and decided to convert into a romantic themed cottage garden with pink and mauve roses, iris, lupine, nepenthes, delphinium, etc. April 2016 99% of plant had die-back which is scary because it wasn't the worst winter. There are tiny green buds at the bottom which I hope are from scion and not rootstock. If it grows back I hope now that it is established it will survive better over winters.
In it's second year and is much more healthy than before. Copper spray/Fungacide, Mulch, and feeding, putting it's growth in canes, with only a flower or two. Good progress, but blackspot must be watched.
