Bred by Louis-Xavier Granger (France, 1860).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1863 as 'Général Washington'.

Bloom:
Crimson, brown highlights.  Moderate fragrance.  100 to 150 petals.  Very large, very full (41+ petals), flat, globular bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Arching.  

Height: 3' to 5' (90 to 150cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
George Washington, American general and statesman, born 22 February 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Died 14 December 1799.
