Origin:
Bred by George W. Woodhouse (United States, before 1891).
Introduced in United States by John Lewis Childs in 1891 as 'Champion of the World'.
Class:
Bourbon, Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Rose-pink, yellow stamens.  Mild to strong fragrance.  35 petals.  Large, double (17-25 petals), cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Thornless (or almost).  Glossy foliage.  

Height: 39" to 6'7" (100 to 200cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for beds and borders, cut flower or garden.  Hardy.  vigorous.  shade tolerant.  Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood..  Cut back one-half every year..  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Recent DNA analysis has shown that 'Hermosa' is not one parents of 'Champion of the World', but 'Rose Edoard' might be.- see References.
